Christian W. Dame - NPT’s President & Founder
Chris has been managing change for government, business, and nonprofit organizations for over 35 years, traveling internationally. He has ![]()
direct experience managing large-scale private and government projects involving planning and design, finance, market research, construction, politics, and community relations. He’s taught at Harvard University and speaks at conferences. He’s served as CEO and board member of for-profits, and volunteer, board member, and chair of several non-profits. He’s been the Interim Executive Director for several organizations including a homeless veteran’s shelter, a hispanic social service agency, and a regional nonprofit housing development agency. He’s consulted to funders in several states about nonprofit turnarounds. More than once his critical assessments have initially engendered anger and resistance, and later, as his recommendations proved helpful, thanks and offers to join the board. Recruited by the President of The Rhode Island Foundation to head the team that established the Initiative for Nonprofit Excellence, he designed the foundation’s initial programs to train leaders, build capacity, and courage excellence in Rhode Island's nonprofit sector. As NPT’s President he’s consulted to numerous nonprofits
nationally on start-ups, governance, executive coaching, turnarounds, program administration, succession planning and implementation, and a host of other transition challenges. Chris has a Masters in City Planning from Harvard University, completed the Third Sector New England Interim Executive Directors training program, and is a certified professional mediator. He is also an experienced international mountain climber and photographer.
